Pathways Table Runner

Ok, so I've been slacking, and it's time to get back on track!

One of the projects I've been working on in the past month is a pattern I purchased from Mishka's Playground called Pathways.

I wasn't sure at first what fabric to use for this.  Then one day, I just grabbed one of those packets with 6 FQ's inside from the store, and we were on our way!

I'm going to tell you now, that while working on this project, I was reminded of That 70's Show.  You'll see what I mean!

I didn't take pix of the fq's, but here are the pieces once they were cut. This is the order I wanted them to be in on the runner.  You can see the smaller blocks just underneath the bigger ones.

 

Now, here are the smaller blocks once they are attached to the larger squares.  Are they still in the order I wanted them in?  I think so!

Now, after going thru the fun process of attaching all those blocks, here they are on my wall.  And, as you can see, I got turned around as far as where the larger squares ended up!  Still looks great!

On to the back!  Yay!  This part was pretty quick.

 

 

Let's make a run for the border!

 

Borders are actually kinda fun, and really easy! 

 

Here is how I kept my lines straight . . .

Don't get confused when chain piecing!  Once you get your rhythm going, it is piece of cake!

 

What to do now?  Before I attached the border, I sandwiched the pieces:

Because I wasn't comfortable with Free Motion Quilting at this point, I just stitched in the ditch.  Looked pretty good on the back, too!

Now to add the binding!

 It is really easy for me to get turned around on which way to attach the ends, but I still get there in the end!  One of these days, I will figure out how to lay it out to have the angle going in the same direction.  However, that will only be a factor when using scrappy pieces or more than one color of fabric - if it's all the same, nobody will know!

 

After an hour or two (maybe 3 - I get distracted by the kids), here is the end result!
